Holey Moley!  This One Room Challenge is flying by.  It’s been a crazy busy week at work, so I’m a day late with this post.  Better late than never, I suppose.

ORC Guest BlueIf you’re just tuning in, I’m participating in a 6-week design challenge hosted by Calling it Home.  I’ve decided to re-do my twins’s bedroom with a Coastal Cool theme.  You can read all about the plan in last week’s introduction post.

Here’s the mood board:

Week 2 Updates

My side table arrived in the mail from Wayfair this past week.  Robert really seemed to like it:

For now, I think it will serve as a nightstand alternative between the two beds.  I’m also considering adding two little stools, and using it as a small play table.   I’m still tinkering and thinking.  It will be so much easier to decide when my rug is finished.  Speaking of my rug…

All About Triangles

I feel like my current design plan revolves entirely around triangles.  I’m loving this West Elm rug, but there is no way I’m going to spend that kind of money for anything in a room that will be destroyed by a couple of three-year-olds.

So…

I’ve seen several people in the blog-o-sphere that have painted drop cloths and used them as rugs.  I decided to give that a try, but didn’t anticipate how long it would take for me to measure, tape off, and paint all of those triangles.  Yowza!

I’m feeling optimistic today, so I’m estimating this project will be complete by my update next week.  Also, I’m not totally thrilled with the blue paint color I used.  I will probably swap it out for a lighter shade.

I’m also going to do a triangle decal feature wall.  I ordered some ” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow noopener”>Repositionable Adhesive-Backed Vinyl online, and chose 4 different colors.

Not sure yet if I will use all four colors, and in what pattern I will place them.  Here area few designs that I’m digging:

I’m also feeling optimistic with this project.  I’m hoping to complete this with the twins around to “help” this weekend.  I mean, what’s the worst that can happen!?!?

There you have it.  Slow and steady with lots of DIY projects along the way.  Check in next week to see our progress and see how much “help” I get with that decal feature wall.

Until then, make sure you hop on over to Calling it Home to see what all of the One Room Challenge linking participants have been up to.  See you next week!
