Mini Easel Craft
Transform a Dollar Tree kids craft kit into a beautiful piece of DIY home decor with this tutorial to make your own Mini Easel Craft.
Materials
- Mini easel craft kit
- Acrylic craft paint: dark brown, cream, and light green
- Iron-on transfer
Tools
- Craft knife
- Wire bristle brush
- Small paintbrushes
- Mini heat press (or iron with no steam)
- Heat pad (or ironing board)
Instructions
- Watch the video tutorial before you begin, and let that be your visual guide for this craft.
- Score the plastic easel: use a craft blade to score wood grain pattern or swirls onto the surface of the easel.
- Distress the plastic easel: Use a wire brush to scuff up the plastic easel. Remove the shiny top layer so the paint can stick to the plastic.
- Paint the easel: Paint the easel with brown paint. Let dry, and apply another coat. Then distress the easel with cream paint on a dry brush, creating a weathered wood finish.
- Paint the canvas: Paint the canvas green, and let dry.
- Embellish the canvas: Add a heat-transfer decal with a mini heat press, and follow the decal instructions.
- Display the mini easel craft anywhere you like!
Notes
**If you can't find an iron-on transfer that you like, feel free to get creative and cut vinyl on your Cricut, or paint your own work of art on the mini canvas!
