I love almost everything about my apartment – everything except the teeny-tiny bathroom counter. I’m not very high maintenance when it comes to hair and makeup, but I do like having a nice area to get ready in. I had a desk from Ikea sitting in storage in my mom’s basement that I decided to put to use in my bedroom as a vanity.
I started with a gold mirror that my mom didn’t have use for anymore. After a little bit of black spray paint, I had a new mirror.
A kitchen knife that I bought came in a little wooden box. I painted it white and lined it with some scrapbook paper.
Some glasses and candlestick holders from the thrift store hot-glued together make great storage.
A silver candlestick holds bracelets… It will probably turn into a landing spot for piles of hair ties.
I lined the drawers with pretty paper and mod podge.
An orchid and some candles for fun.
New drawer pulls add a bit of sparkle.
I’m so stealing that knife box idea. I have two similar boxes that will soon be painted. Let’s hang out sometime and check out thrift stores. I’ve single handedly put a hole in the ozone layer with spray paint. Sorry Al Gore. I’m certain it’s why we’ve had a beautiful winter this year.
HaHa… Nice! You need to make a Twin Cities visit. I’m slowly familiarizing myself with the local thrift store scene. I should be an expert by summer 🙂
I love anything you do Aimee, old or new! Just don’t get rid of all your recipes and desserts….I look at them over and over. In fact I am going to make your “crack balls” for a birthday treat!
Don’t worry Michelle – I will be transferring over my dessert recipes and favorite posts in the next day or two.
Love it, desk and mirror!
It looks so chic! I love it! And I love the idea of putting make up and other things in glasses!
What a great blog
This is beautiful–and your photography is amazing! And, thanks for linking up at the Oldies party last week!
Pinning!
Where is the desk from? and what is the name of it?? Thanks
Was wondering the same thing. She said it is from Ikea..I guess we will have to go look for ourselves.
