Hey there crafty friends! This Grinch post has been hanging around my blog since 2012, and it was way overdue for a makeover. The old version had ten ideas. This one has 36 Grinch crafts and treats, because I wasn’t about to take the treats away from you.
You’ll find Grinch wreaths, the viral Dollar Tree Grinch tree, Grinch home decor and ornaments, easy Grinch crafts for kids, and some very green treats. A lot of them start with dollar store supplies, so you can Grinch up your whole house without a Grinch-sized price tag. They all come from creators I love, and every one links to the full tutorial or video.
If you only make one, make the Dollar Tree Grinch tree. It’s under $15, and it went viral for a reason. And if you’re on a Dollar Tree Christmas kick like me, my Christmas upcycle crafts are full of thrifty ideas too.
The Best Grinch Crafts and Treats
I rounded up my favorites from other creators and sorted them into groups, so you can skip straight to wreaths, decor, ornaments, kids’ crafts or treats. Grab a coffee (or some green hot cocoa), because this list is long!
Grinch Wreaths and Door Decor
Let’s start at the front door! Most of these begin with a Dollar Tree wreath form, and a couple are made almost entirely from Dollar Tree supplies.

1. Dollar Tree Grinch Hand Wreath
Lorene at Remodelaholic found every single supply for this one at Dollar Tree. She wraps a candy cane wreath form in a red velvet scarf, cuts a Grinch hand out of green faux fur, and hangs a big red ornament from his fingers. How cute is that? Every step has a photo, too.
2. Whimsical Grinch Wreath
Laura wraps green garland from Michaels around a wire wreath form, then spray paints the whole thing bright Grinch green. Knotted ribbon pieces, picks, a big striped bow and a Grinch mask in the middle make it look like a boutique wreath. She has two video tutorials if you’d rather watch.
3. Dollar Tree Grinch Deco Mesh Wreath
Michelle builds this one on an 18-inch Dollar Tree wire wreath form with red deco mesh, using big cruffle bundles that cover the base fast with very little fraying. Green Dollar Tree ornaments fill it out, and a Grinch sign from Walmart sits in the middle. A great first mesh wreath.
4. Grinch Face Curl Wreath
This wreath IS the Grinch. Southern Wreaths covers a 14-inch Dollar Tree wire frame in apple green deco mesh curls, then tops it with a Santa hat and a metal Grinch face sign. A fun twist on the usual round wreath.
5. Easy Dollar Tree Grinch Wreath
Dave walks you through a Grinch wreath made with dollar store supplies, from building the base to adding the Grinch details, in under five minutes. Quick, beginner-friendly, and a good one to watch before you head to the store.
6. Grinch Loopy Yarn Wreath
No mesh and no glue gun marathon here. Albion Gould wraps green loop yarn (Bernat Alize Blanket EZ) around a 12-inch foam wreath form with the loops facing out, then stitches and stuffs a red felt heart. Soft, cozy and totally different from the shiny mesh versions.
Grinch Christmas Trees and Home Decor
This is where the Grinch takes over the house. You’ll find the viral Dollar Tree Grinch tree, a Grinch snowman, a sock gnome, a couple of pillows and a curvy Whoville tree.

7. Viral Dollar Tree Grinch Tree
This is the viral one! Brittanie zip-ties a 4-foot Dollar Tree tree and a mini tree together, bends the mini tree’s bar into that droopy Grinch top, then spray paints it all key lime. One red ornament on the tip, and the whole thing came in under $15.
8. Dollar Tree Grinch Snowman
Brittanie strikes again. She spray paints a $5 Dollar Tree stackable snowman green (in small bursts), then adds a Grinch face decal, a scarf and a Santa hat. All in, it’s under $20. That grumpy little face on a snowman cracks me up.
9. Dollar Tree Grinch Sock Gnome
Gnome lovers, this one’s for you. Sarah makes a no-sew sock gnome and uses a fuzzy green Dollar Tree pillow for the Grinch fur, plus a felt hat and sherpa trim. It’s about $4, and there’s a video if you want to watch it come together first.
10. Glitter Grinch Bowl Decoration
Amy from Leap of Faith Crafting coats the inside of two Dollar Tree glass bowls with Mod Podge and glitter, glues them together, and adds a vinyl Grinch face, a green feather boa and a Santa hat. Tuck fairy lights inside and it glows. So sparkly!
11. Grinch Wine Glass Candle Holder
A dollar store wine glass, some lime green paint and a little puffy paint, and you’ve got a Grinch candle holder. A Cultivated Nest wraps a felt Santa hat around the stem and pops a votive inside. The glass was about a dollar, and everything else was already on hand.
12. Grinch Pillow Cover (Pottery Barn Dupe)
Oh, I do love a good dupe. Shara traces the Grinch onto drop cloth with a stained Sharpie, then hand-stitches red and white sequins before sewing up the pillow cover. It takes some patience, so queue up a Christmas movie for this one.
13. Crochet Grinch Heart Pillow
Crocheters, here’s yours! Sarah’s pattern makes a red heart pillow, and the back has a pocket that holds a copy of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. What a sweet way to keep the book handy for Christmas Eve reading.
14. Curvy Cedar Whoville Tree
Trish spiral-wraps fresh cedar branches with aluminum wire to get those curvy Whoville shapes, then sets them in soaked floral foam and decorates with ribbon and ornaments. Wouldn’t this be adorable in a porch pot?
DIY Grinch Ornaments
Grinch ornaments are such a fun way to theme your tree without buying a whole new set. Clear ornaments, wood slices, tiles and mini mason jars all get a Grinch makeover here.
15. Dollar Tree Grinch Ornament Makeover
Mona turns a plain Dollar Tree wood ornament into the Grinch himself, grumpy face and all. She hand-paints him, outlines the details with dimensional paint, adds UV resin to the eyes and finishes with a mini Santa hat. There’s a video and step photos.
16. Crescent Moon Grinch Ornament
Two Dollar Tree 8-inch wire wreath forms get joined back to back into a crescent moon, then wrapped in chunky red yarn. A stuffed felt Grinch hand holds a red ball ornament at the end. An oversized ornament with a TON of personality.
17. Clear Ball Grinch Ornaments
Aubree shows two ways to fill a clear ornament: a Grinch face made with vinyl or paint pens, and a Grinch heart version stuffed with green pom poms, feathers or paper shred. Her tip: stock up on clear ornaments on after-Christmas clearance at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
18. Grinch Mason Jar Mug Ornaments
Cassie paints mini mason jar mugs, pipes on spackle ‘whipped cream’ and adds Grinch faces in vinyl. Hang them on the tree or line them up on a tiered tray. Fake whipped cream made from spackle? I LOVE it.
19. Grinch Wood Slice Ornaments
Amy paints wood slices green with a few coats, sketches the faces in pencil, then adds the details with paint pens. Mini Santa hats and green boa trim finish them off. Rustic and cute, and a nice one to make with older kids.
20. Grinch Tile Ornament
Backsplash tiles from Lowe’s come on a mesh sheet of about 12 to 15 for under $5, so you can make a whole batch. I Create Crafts adds a Cricut-cut vinyl Grinch to each tile and finishes it with sparkly ribbon. Great for gifting.
21. Easy Grinch Party Ornaments
Shelly shares easy DIY Grinch ornaments as a party craft, so it’s a fun pick if you’re hosting a crafty get-together this season. She credits Liz and Jeff for the inspiration.
Easy Grinch Crafts for Kids
These are simple, cheap, and made with stuff you probably already have: paper cups, toilet paper rolls, craft sticks and pom poms. Most of them would work great for a classroom party.

22. Grinch Pom Pom Ornament
Three steps, and little hands can do most of it. Chelsey fills a clear plastic ornament with green pom poms, then draws a red heart on the outside with an oil-based marker or paint pen. Easy peasy.
23. Paper Cup Grinch
Kristen paints a paper cup green, then glues on a felt Santa hat, googly eyes, a nose and fuzzy pipe cleaner eyebrows and smile. Cotton balls make the hat trim. Five steps, all with photos.
24. Toilet Paper Roll Grinch
Save those toilet paper rolls! Jen paints one green, dresses it in a little felt Santa suit with pom pom trim, and draws on the face. It’s part of her series of toilet paper roll Christmas characters, if your kids want to make a whole set.
25. Popsicle Stick Grinch
Sam glues popsicle sticks together, paints half green and half red, and adds a paper hat and face. She includes a free template, and a little twine turns it into an ornament. Perfect for a classroom party.
26. Grinch Craft Stick Characters
Jumbo craft sticks become the Grinch and his friends with paint, a black marker, craft paper, cotton balls and chenille stems. There are numbered steps and a video, so it’s easy to follow along.
27. Grinch Gnome Ornament
Jackie covers a cereal box cardboard hat with red felt and glues on a green yarn beard for a Grinch gnome ornament. A great way to use up yarn scraps and the recycling bin.
28. Pipe Cleaner Grinch Tree
Molly wraps three shades of green pipe cleaners around a cone, layers them until they’re full, then slides the tree off and glues on a little red felt heart. Simple supplies and a really cute result.
29. Grinch’s Heart Ornament
Mary Catherine has kids paint wooden craft hearts in shades of red and green, then press a fingerprint heart in the center. They’d make sweet little homemade gifts.
30. Grinch Slime
Debbie mixes clear glue, baking soda, green coloring, glitter and red heart confetti, then activates it with contact lens solution. She also shows how to decorate a jar so you can gift it.
Grinch Treats and Gifts
I couldn’t leave out the treats, since this post started out as Grinch treats! Green chocolate, candy hearts and one bath bomb gift for the grown-ups.

31. Grinch Hot Cocoa Bombs
Shelby tints white chocolate green, fills the shells with cocoa mix and mini marshmallows, and tops each one with a red candy heart. You’ll need a silicone mold. Bag them up and they’re a ready-made gift.
32. Grinch Bark
This one was in the older version of this post, and it earned its spot again. Layers of white chocolate and green candy melts get topped with green M&M’s and red heart sprinkles, then cut into pieces. No baking! (Shared on Design Dazzle by Christine of I Dig Pinterest.)
33. Grinch Fudge
Sarah’s fudge melts white chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk and butter on the stove, then gets a drizzle of green candy melts and a candy topping. Chill it about an hour and cut. Easy enough to make a double batch for gifting.
34. Grinch Rice Krispie Treats

35. Grinch Pretzel Bites
Sweet and salty! Alicia bakes caramel onto a mini pretzel, sandwiches it with a second pretzel, dips it in green candy melts and finishes with a heart sprinkle. Perfect for a cookie tray.
36. Grinch Bath Bombs
Grown-ups need Grinch gifts too! These green bath bombs get pressed into a mini muffin silicone mold and topped with a jumbo heart sprinkle. A handful in a jar makes a cute neighbor or teacher gift.
Tips for Making Grinch Crafts
A few tips I picked up from the creators in this roundup:
- Go bright lime green. That’s the color that reads as “Grinch.” Brittanie used key lime spray paint on her Grinch tree, and Cassie used Apple Barrel Lime Tree on her mini mason jar mugs.
- Cut faux fur with a craft knife, not scissors. That’s how Lorene at Remodelaholic cut the Grinch hand for her wreath.
- Spray paint in small bursts. Brittanie’s tip for painting her Grinch snowman.
- Use oil-based paint pens on plastic and glass. Chelsey at Buggy and Buddy and Debbie at One Little Project both reach for them on ornaments and jars.
- Check Dollar Tree’s seasonal section. Candy cane wreath forms, Santa hats, green boas, wire wreath forms and little white trees all show up in the projects here.
- Don’t forget the heart. A red felt heart, a heart sticker or a thumbprint turns almost anything green into a Grinch craft.
Ways to Make Them Your Own
There’s no real wrong way to Grinch something up. A few ideas:
- Not loving the bright lime? Try a softer sage or mint green for a more vintage look.
- Swap the red for pink. Pink and lime green together are so fun.
- Mix and match a few small projects, like the Grinch tree, some ornaments and the snowman, for a Grinch tiered tray or a whole Grinch corner.
- Host a kids’ craft night and set out supplies for the paper cup Grinch, the pom pom ornaments and the slime.
