New office supplies make my heart skip a beat. Maybe it goes back to my childhood days, when I would carefully select and inspect my back-to-school supplies. I think it was clear even back then  that I was a total over-achiever!

I started using these Pilot G2 pens back in grad school. With smooth writing gel ink,  they’re my go-to pen for making lists and taking notes. As the #1 Selling Pen Brand in America, Pilot has something for everyone – including four point sizes and 20 vibrant colors. I decided to organize and store my favorite pens in a DIY desk organizer that’s super easy to make.

Supplies needed to make an upcycled pen organizer:

  • empty shoe box
  • assorted empty cardboard tubes (from tp or paper towels)
  • clear packing tape
  • decorative paper or gift wrap
  • scissors
  • spray paint
  • decorative tape (like this cork kind) for edges
  • small decorative box (or more tubes -whatever you prefer)

Tutorial

Spray-paint the paper tubes. I just sprayed the top half, since that is the only part that would show.
