I have been on a major front entry/kitchen kick lately with wall decor. For nearly a year, I have faced decor paralysis when it comes to a few of these walls.
Then BOOM!
Overnight, I had DIY wall decor inspiration in a major way. So far I have shared my giant chalkboard made on a serious budget as well as a hand-painted “Bakery” farmhouse style sign.
Today, I’m continuing the wall decor trend with this simple moss picture frame photo mat.

DIY Moss Photo Mat – Tutorial
Gather Your Supplies
Make A Photo Mat
Cut your green craft paper into a photo mat. Since my frame was 8×10, I cut the mat down to 5×7.
Cut the Moss
I cut two 10-inch strips and two 8-inch strips. Then cut the ends of these strips at 45-degree angles, so the corners fit together nicely.
Warning – the craft moss sheds…. allot!
Glue and Assemble
Glue the four moss strips to the craft paper photo mat. Since the moss sheds, you will want to use plenty of glue to make sure the moss sticks. I honestly think I could have glued the moss a bit better.
Then assemble the photo mat, printable and frame… You’re good to go!
Wow. It’s a beautiful idea! Love this gorgeous green moss picture frame. I personally feel hanging a tapestry on wall also gives an elegant look to the room walls. So inspiring!
