I really do love decorating for different seasons and holidays and  tinkering with my decor. However, I do NOT enjoy lugging around giant storage tubs multiple times a year. Don’t get me started on sorting, organizing, and labeling these tubs. That’s why I do my best to get the most of my seasonal decor items by making them reversible.

So, when Hobby Lobby asked me to make two seasonal crafts using their wood rounds, I knew exactly what I would do. In fact, I had a hard time just making two crafts here. I love, love, love crafting and decorating with wood rounds!

Side 1 – Fairytale Pumpkins

How to Paint Farmhouse-Style Fairytale Pumpkins

The key to painting these pumpkins is simple. Can you paint the letter “C”? Then you can paint a pumpkin. All you need to remember is this: layer 2-3 paint colors on your brush at one time. Then repeat painting the letter C, layering paint, until you get the look you want. For these pumpkins, I used the following paint color combos:

  • Large: Orange, coral, light green, white
  • Medium: dark green, light green, white
  • Small:dark green (mixed with a little black), dark green, light green

Side 2 – Christmas Scene

Start by painting the three wood rounds with black chalk paint. Let dry.

Then stencil and paint each wood round with your selected winter or Christmas image. I chose a deer,”joy”, and a simple tree ornament.

Style the painted wood round with faux boxwood and red ribbon.

My Reversible Fall-to-Winter Wood Rounds

I can’t believe I’m saying this so early in the year, but my mantel decor through Christmas is handled. These pumpkin wood rounds will last me through Thanksgiving. Then I will flip them around and keep them up through Christmas. So easy!
