1 – Designer in a Binder

I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am about this NEW design guide from my blogger friend Tasha from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body. I got my hands on an early copy of the Binder, and I instantly knew that this design resource would be a complete game-changer. Tasha walks you through the entire design process, so you can DIY your design needs. Work your way through this Binder, step-by-step and room-by-room. Keep your planning and inspiration organized with Designer in a Binder, and design a home you LOVE.

UPDATE: We moved about 6 months ago, and my Designer in a Binder has been with me every step of the way so far. I keep it handy, and it’s usually on the kitchen counter or the front seat of my car. This binder has been an invaluable resource as I tackle the process of decorating our new home!

2 – My Favorite Home Decor Magazines and Books

Home decor books - design a home you love

Here’s what’s on my bookshelf. They are my favorite home decor books:

  1. The Nesting Place – “It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.” Learn to embrace the home you have, and make it beautiful along the way.
  2. Love the Home you Have – This book’s title says it all. No matter where you live, even if it’s not your forever home, you can still be content and love the home you have.
  3. The Inspired Room – This book is not only beautiful (coffee table book!) but filled with practical solutions for designing a home with what you already have.
  4. Better Homes and Gardens – Yes, I still get a physical, paper, magazine delivered to my house each month. It’s a classic, but still my favorite read.

3 – Where to Shop and Stick to a Budget

This little ebook is filled with my favorite online sources for affordable home decor (don’t let the farmhouse name fool you!). After all, we should all have a home that we love… even if we’re on a shoestring budget.
