Learn how to layer bedding pieces and shop for the best affordable farmhouse bedding. Create a comfy and cozy bedroom with the perfect bedding, throws, pillows, and sheets.
I could quite literally spend hours upon hours scrolling through dreamy photos of farmhouse style bedrooms on Pinterest. While many vary in style, they all have one basic element in common. The bedding is layered. This is something that I struggled with for quite a while in my own home decor.

Layering Bedding
A bed is about more than sheets and a comforter. If you really want to bring farmhouse style into your bedroom, you are going to need to layer. Even if you are sticking to a neutral color palette, you can layer texture and pattern… carefully, of course.
The key is balance. Don’t go on overload with patterns. Pick 2-3 at max. Here are a few examples:
- a solid duvet, stripe bedding, and a check accent pillow/throw
- a stripe duvet, solid sheet, and a textured throw in a muted color
- a solid duvet, floral sheets, and stripe accent pillows/throws
