A bottle of wine is a quick and easy option for a hostess or housewarming gift. But, you also want your recipient to feel special like you really put thought into you gift.
This gift idea presents the best of both worlds! Make the gift wrap serve double-duty and serve as a gift itself. I found these beautiful kitchen towels at Hobby Lobby, but you can find beautiful options at World Market, Target, TJ Maxx, and SO many other stores. And as for the wine, well… we all know where to buy that!
Here are two ways to make a dish towel wine wrap – one uses a ribbon to tie the towel. The other uses a simple knot instead. The chose is yours!
How to make a dish towel wine wrap – 2 different ways
Option 1: The simple knot method
1. Lay the towel flat on your work surface. Smooth it out.
2. Lay the wine bottle down in the middle of the towel. Keep about 1/3 of the towel exposed along the long edge.
3. Fold the bottom long edge over the bottle.
4. Grab both short ends of the towel with either hand in a fist.
5. Tie the two short ends of the towel in a simple knot.
6. Pull the knot tight. Adjust the towel as necessary to cover the bottle label.
How easy was that?
Option 2: The roll and tie method
1. Lay the towel flat on your work surface. Lay the wine bottle flat on top of the towel. Keep about 1/3 of the towel exposed along both the bottom long edge and the left short edge.
2. Fold the bottom long edge over the bottle.
3. Grab the bottom right corner of the towel.
4. Fold the right side of the towel over the bottle. Line up the two short ends of the towel.
5. Tighten the towel around the bottle, and begin rolling to the left.
6. Roll the towel all the way around the bottle
7. Tie a ribbon around the bottle neck to hold the towel in place. I tied the bottle with a customized fabric ribbon that I made on my Cricut machine.
