More than ever, we are all wearing various hats and juggling more than we probably should. I have been feeling this pressure more in recent months. See, I just finished law school (woo!) but still have this small task of studying for and passing the bar exam ahead me. This means that on any given day, I am juggling home, family, my studies, and the occasional blog post. This doesn’t leave much room for “me time” – moments that are just for me to unwind, relax, or unplug.
This means that me time is all about quality and not quantity. I may not get to unplug and take moments for me as much as I would like to, but I make the most of the time I can take for myself.
As a busy woman in a fast-paced world, my ultimate moment for me time involves unplugging. Whether it’s a weekend at a cabin or a walk around the lake, I enjoy unplugging in nature. Photography is a hobby that often gets pushed aside, so trading my iPhone for my DSLR is the most rewarding me time.
And those photos won’t edit themselves! I can sneak a few moments to indulge in a bowl of Haagen-Dazs Artisan ice cream and edit my newly-snapped photos.
I wish I could spend every weekend at the lake, or every morning taking a walk around the lake. But, let’s get real here, people! Real life doesn’t work that way… at least not for now. So unplugging may not be for very long, or as often as I would like. But when I do, I make the most of it.
Last weekend, I was up in Stillwater for an art festival. I decided to take some time for myself to unplug and snap a few pictures by the water.
The day was beautiful, and I couldn’t have asked for a better few moments for me to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies!
And well, unplugging won’t last forever, and those photos won’t edit themselves! When I got home, and the twins were in bed, I took 20 minutes for myself to sort through the day’s memories and indulge in a sweet treat for myself.
